Trellis Ideas for Your Landscape Design
Published on: November 27, 2017
There are many ways to incorporate trellises in your landscaping to add beauty to your yard. Trellises offer a vertical or horizontal climbing apparatus for vines, but they can also be used as partitions and decoration. Here are some ideas on how you can add trellises to your landscape design to create interesting focal points and breaks in your yard.
- Cover old structures. Do you have an old garden shed or structure that you want to hide? Trellises are perfect for creating a natural covering for old walls or fencing that you have not had a chance to replace.
- Wind breaks and privacy. Add a wall trellis on the side of your patio can create shade, a windbreak and privacy for your outdoor area. A trellis will still let in light, but give enough break from the sun, wind or prying neighboring eyes to be functional.
- Enhance an entrance. Trellises are popular to add near the entrance of your yard. An overhead trellis through a corridor from front to backyard or a simple border around the gate can make a beautiful welcome for visitors.
- Focal points. Trellises can add pizzazz to your landscaping focal points. A trellis behind a fountain or surrounding a garden bench by your pond can help draw attention to main areas of your yard.
Trellises can be used in so many ways. When covered with a green layer of vines or a bright array of flowers, a trellis can be a work of art. Talk to your local landscaper on the best ways to add a trellis to enhance your landscaping for function, beauty or both.
